It has been brought
to my attention that there is a definite need for Dog Obedience classes in the Carroll area.
I have decided to take on this task by offering a Basic Companion Class. A
Basic Companion Class is the basics of Obedience training. These fundamentals
may lead to more advanced obedience, but are also the basis for a well-behaved family pet. It
is my firm belief that every dog should know the basics like “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “come”,
and for those who like to jump up, the “off” command is invaluable. A
simple but diligent “Come” command can save your dog’s life, should he happen to run onto a road.
Dates for this class will be: May 14 &
28, June 11 & 25, July 9 & 23, August 6 & 20. Ideally we would meet every week but holiday weekends and
my impending due date force our schedule to every other week. Classes
will meet at Graham Park (Across from the Rec Center) at 6:30pm.
In the Basic Companion Class you and your dog will learn,
·
Controlled
walk on a leash
·
Sit/Stand in front of handler
·
Recall/Come Fore
·
Yielding
·
Sit/Stand at side of handler
·
Down or Drop
·
Stay/Wait
·
Socialization with other dogs
·
Subordination Exercises
Cost for this class is $75 for all 8 weeks.
No refunds will be given. Each week we will incorporate a new
skill and we will move with the level of the class. Missing a week of class will mean you miss a skill set that is the basis
for following classes. Please make a commitment to attend the series of classes for best results. Payment will
be made at the first Class.
The first class will be informational only, no dogs are needed. We will discuss general guidelines for this class, what you will need to bring to each class, appropriate
collars and leashes and the length and frequency of training.
More then one dog per family is allowed (with separate paid fee) with separate handlers. No two dogs will be allowed to have the same handler.
